Show a manual review queue without approving work
Status Light can draw attention to a manual review queue through a configured software bridge. The signal can tell you that an item needs inspection without making the decision for you. Keep notification, acknowledgement and approval as separate actions. That separation is especially useful when completed automated work still needs someone to evaluate the actual output.
What qualifies as waiting for review?
Use a clear state from the source tool, such as an item assigned to you and still awaiting a decision. A newly created item is not necessarily ready for review, and an item reviewed by someone else may remain open for a different reason. Define the selection rule before mapping it to a light.
Store a stable item reference and a route to the review interface. If the queue spans several tools, preserve their distinct meanings instead of treating every open record as the same kind of obligation. The physical summary should correspond to a list you can inspect.
What should the signal ask you to do?
Make its meaning something concrete, such as open the pending-review list. Do not label a completed generation as approved merely because the automation finished successfully. The person reviewing still needs to assess scope, correctness and any relevant source evidence.
Keep sensitive item details out of a broadly visible display when they are unnecessary. A general attention cue can be useful while the companion interface provides details in the appropriate context. Choose the amount of information based on the workplace and the actual review task.
What does acknowledging the light change?
A local acknowledgement can mean you have seen the notification. It should not silently submit a review, approve a deployment or dismiss the source item unless you deliberately designed and labelled that separate action. Avoid combining those meanings in one habitual button press.
Decide when an acknowledged item should notify again, such as after a meaningful revision or reassignment. Keep acknowledgement tied to the relevant item version so a later update is not permanently hidden by an earlier dismissal. Preserve the source's actual review state independently.
How should the queue be checked?
Test new items, items removed from your scope, reviewed items and revisions arriving after acknowledgement. Confirm that the physical signal matches the selected pending list and that no source decision changes merely because a notification was displayed or cleared.
Use the hardware's documented output method and provide a readable text explanation for the chosen convention. The Status Light product overview describes the desk unit; a review notification integration should help you find decisions that need attention while leaving those decisions explicit in the proper tool.
